Rann of Kutch is a very famous tourist spot in India located in the Indian state of Gujarat. It was once an arm of the Arabian Sea and due to the land getting separated from the sea over time, it became a vast featureless plain sheathed in salt. The temperature goes around 48 degrees Celsius in the summers while winter temperatures can well go below 0 degrees. Geographically too, it displays a wide range of variety- from barren lands in summer to a lake in monsoon and then to the white rann for just 3 months in winter. This 3 month is the time when one gets to see the beauty of the famed Rann of Kutch.
Rann Utsav is an annual cultural festival that celebrates Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage. In recent years, the Rann Utsav has turned into a very big event that attracts thousands of tourists from India and abroad to this little paradise nestled away in India’s western borders.
You can check out the famous local handicrafts like embroidery, terracotta, block printing etc from Bhujodi village. Kutchi folk dances are performed and visitors are treated to delicious kutchi ethnic dishes. There is something for everyone to do- camel safaris, balloon rides, bird watching, dirt bikes etc. Additionally, the natural beauty of the place is unparalleled with white salt-flats surrounding you from all sides. The sunrises and the sunsets that you can see in the Rann Utsav will be a treat to your eyes. As the sun comes out, the desert changes its colors from red to a goldish one and then to a glittering white. On a full moon, the place is a sight to behold and words fail to describe its beauty.
