When is Rann Utsav 2019?
The dates of Rann Utsav 2019-20 are 28 Oct 2019 to 23 Feb 2020. However, it is expected that the formation of the white rann will be delayed due to heavy rains this year. We can expect to have good formation by Nov third week when you can see the clear white rann.
Best Time to Visit Rann Utsav is from Dec to January as the formation of the Rann happens by that time and the climate is also pleasent to travel.
How to reach Rann Utsav ?
Rann Utsav is organized in Dhordo Village of Kutch, which is 85 Kms from Bhuj. Bhuj has an airport, railway station and bus stand. After arriving at the Bhuj, you can hire a local cab on a per day basis or for half day or full day sightseeing. The driver will take you to the famous places like White Desert, Kalo Dungar, Gandhi Nu Gam and will drop you to your stay near to the White Rann after that. This will cost somewhere around Rs 2000 - Rs 3000 depending on the inclusions and time for which you rent. However, it is recommended that you take the vehicle on disposal to avoid inconvenience as the local transport near to the white rann is very less and very costly.

Public transport to Rann Utsav is very limited and very difficult to travel with as you will have to change at 1 or more than one spot. The frequency is also very low.
Flight Options to Bhuj :-
The airport code for Bhuj is BHJ. You can get good connectivity via Mumbai. You can also get indirect connectivity from New Delhi via Mumbai.
Train Options for Bhuj :-
Bhuj has a good connectivity from the nearby railway station with regulary trains coming in from New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad.
Bus Options for Bhuj :-
You can get good buses from Ahmedabad round the year and from Rajkot when the Rann Utsav is operational. Some of the good operators are Patel, Swaminarayan, Sahajanand Travels. You can even opt for the state run GSRTC which is in very good condition but you will only get chair seats in them whereas in private operators, you have the option for the sleeping seats also.

Must Visit Places to Visit during Rann Utsav
There are so many places to visit near to Rann Utsav. Here i am highlighting the important ones that are not to be missed :-
1. White Rann
Definitely the most important thing to visit. To visit the White Rann, you have to apply for permit. You can get the permit at Bhirandiyara Checkpost or at the gate of White Rann. However, it is advisable that you apply for permit beforehand online via www.rannpermit.com(Only applicable for Indian Nationals) to avoid waiting in the queue which can be very long during the festival seasons. The permit charges for the same are Rs 100 per Adult(Above 12 years), Rs 50 per child(6 to 12 years) and Free for Child upto 5 years. There are additional charges of Rs 50 per four wheeler and Rs 25 per two wheeler. If you are booking permit online, make sure you carry a printout of the same when you leave from Bhuj.
You are only allowed to visit the White Rann till 8 pm in the night. However, during the full moon night, you are allowed to stay till midnight to witness the beauty of white rann shining under the moon light.
2. Gandhi Nu Gam
One of the major attractions near to White Rann is Gandhi Nu Gam. Best place to purchase the work of local artists directly from the artists. There are a lot of local villagers who display their work outside their home and you can purchase directly from them. You can also visit the house of the nearby carpenters to witness the beautiful handwork.
3. Kalo Dungar
Highest Point in Rann of Kutch. During December month, you can get a nice view of the white rann in the background. Other than that, there is nothing much to explore.
